The Healthy Breakfast Club

Project Officer Holly Meigel heads up the Healthy Breakfast Club program, which is designed to give Primary School age children, who for any number of reasons don't get fed before school, a healthy start to their day. Since beginning the program in December 2005, WestAus has expanded to cover 9 schools in the Peel. There has been an observed improvement to the learning and concentration of children who would otherwise be attending school hungry. The kids are offered fresh fruit, toast, milo, cereal and on Tuesdays, poached eggs to start their day.
Schools participating in The Healthy Breakfast Club program include:
5 Local Primary Schools- Pinjarra, Carcoola, Dudley Park, Greenfeilds and Riverside
2 Local District Schools- Waroona and Boddington
3 Local High Schools- Coodanup, Halls Head Community College and Mandurah High School, and also the Billy Dower Youth Centre.
The program is locally sponsored, so any help whether it be volunteering or financial assistance, will go directly into improving our kids' health, and their ability to concentrate and learn. If you can contribute as an individual, or as a business, please email Holly.

WAASP

WestAus Accommodation Advocacy and Support Peel (WAASP), is a program aimed to assist people who are having trouble maintaining their private rental accommodation. Staff work with individuals to stabilise their rental accommodation in an effort to prevent them from becoming homeless.

Christmas Hamper Appeal

WestAus coordinates the Interagency group who meet intensively in the lead up to Christmas. The Appeal requires a significant volunteer effort, and the demand for hampers in the Peel Region is expanding rapidly.

Emergency Food Parcels

WestAus also provides food parcels for families and individuals in crisis. These food parcels are made available through charitable donations.
